Ampfab have consistently attended the Collections Trust Exhibition at The Kia Oval in London and we have found it to be a very relaxing way to meet people and get to the crux of many museum issues. There were several talks given, one of particular interest to us, was in relation to storage problems that are common in museum collections around the world.
No other manufacturers or suppliers of museum storage systems and cabinets were at the Exhibition in the early days and we were hoping we would not be viewed with suspicion by attendees hoping to avoid the gauntlet of sales patter normally endured at venues such as this. Once we had established that we were primarily attending to educate ourselves about museum storage issues and the problems faced by the staff responsible for collections, we were very pleasantly surprised to be engaged in conversations ranging from the most simple storage issues to the roots and political causes of museum storage problems.
We found the exhibition to be well planned and very refreshing in terms of venue and structure, we look forward to attending the next one and putting some of what we learnt into the development of our range of museum storage cabinets.
