As part the large and prestigious Bowes Museum refurbishment project Ampfab were chosen to design, manufacture and install a bespoke hanging facility for the display of large oak panels and doors that were in storage at the museum.
Each of these oak panels and doors weighs hundreds of kgs and they were previously stored in a manner that was both detrimental to their condition and potentially dangerous so with the assistance of Jon Old at museum AMP Fab set about designing a set of giant mesh panels that could be pulled out from either side of the display area ensuring safe and secure storage whilst offering the facility to easily display to members of the public.
The pull out hanging racks are some of the largest Ampfab or indeed anybody else has ever produced to operate in this way and have an enormous weight carrying capacity facilitated by the use of special twin carriers and heavy duty track at the top and guided by bespoke guide wheel boxes at the bottom. They will now enhance the visitor experience at the Bowes Museum; already an extremely popular destination for tourists; the famous silver swan can also be seen at the Bowes Museum.
